A few weeks ago I did a blog post on what I like to call ‘The Unthinkable.’ To me, this meant canceling my cable television – which I’ve never been without – to see if I could survive.
Turns out, I survived! And it wasn’t nearly as painful as I thought it would be. These days, it’s so easy to get home from work after a busy day, plop down on the couch and zone out for hours at a time. Since my cable has been canceled I’ve definitely achieved some of my goals: I have been cooking more, I’ve already read through a couple of books, I’ve even started working out (thanks to the moral encouragement of my boyfriend) and I’ve found other things to do (like write blog posts). 🙂
Yes, I am still watching television through Netflix, Hulu and I never miss Monday Night TV (a weekly tradition I’ve had with Randy since we’ve been together), but I’m watching considerably less and when I do, it’s with a purpose; not just because I’m bored and I have nothing to do.
So, if you’re thinking about canceling your cable, I’d encourage you to do it. It’s refreshing and I promise nothing bad can come of it.
Are you up to the challenge?
