We’ve had our plane tickets for a couple months now and we’ve been planning this trip to San Diego since this summer. Tomorrow afternoon (around 3 p.m.) we’ll be officially en route to California! What a way to spend Christmas!
This trip is going to be so exciting for multiple reasons. For one, I haven’t seen my family in forever and Randy and I are so excited to be seeing them for the first time since our engagement. Second, my parents made the move to San Diego this summer and this will be the first time I’ll get to see their new home. Third, I’ve NEVER been to the West Coast. And honestly, before my parents made the move, I didn’t really have any plans to visit California. Now’s my chance!
It’s also been a few years since I’ve been able to take a few days to really celebrate Christmas. Last year I didn’t have any vacation time because I’d just started a new job, the year before I’d been part of a major client project and spent most of Christmas checking emails and pitching stories. So, as you can tell, I couldn’t be more excited to have the next 7 days off.
It’s so easy to forget the true reason for this holiday and I think it’s vitally important to set time aside to enjoy family, friends and the true spirit of Christmas. I’ll be spending the next week baking cookies, wrapping presents, watching Christmas movies and enjoying my family.
I hope you all have a blessed Christmas holiday and please don’t forget that the birth of Jesus is the true reason for this season. God bless you all!
