One year from today…

Today is a big day for Randy and I, but next year, it’ll be an even bigger day! Exactly one year from today, we’ll be:

Getting married

Tying the knot

Getting hitched

Saying “I do”

Exchanging vows

By now, I think you get the point. πŸ™‚ I can’t believe we’ve hit the one year mark! It’s been about a year since we got engagedΒ  and time has really flown by.Β With the wedding planning getting into full force now, the next 12 months will probably go by even faster.

We’ll be celebrating our future anniversary tonight by enjoying a lovely dinner at Caffe Luna right here in Raleigh. Needless to say, I can’t wait to become a Mrs.!

I know you’re thinking – wait, they’ve had a two year engagement?! Yep, that’s right! I’ve gotten a lot of questions as to why we decided to have a long engagement and I wanted to explain our thought process on why we decided to wait.

1). We’re young! What’s the rush?

2) We knew there was a good chance that we’d be moving; we didn’t know when and we didn’t know where. We assumed that Randy would be transferred in late 2011 or early 2012 and as luck would have it, we were right. Who wants to plan a wedding, move and find a new job all at the same time? Not me! I am SO glad we had the foresight – best decision we made all along.

3) At the time of our engagement, we were living in D.C. but planning a wedding in N.C. Since we were planning it from out of state, I wanted more time since I knew it would be more difficult.

4) I wanted to get married in November. We got engaged in November and a year wasn’t long enough (see reason #2) so 2012 it was!

Did you have a really long or really short engagement? If so, how did it turn out! Would you have planned it differently?
