I’m not usually a sucker for infomercials, but I’ve been wanting to try the WEN hair care products for a while now. A couple months ago, I finally broke down and gave it a try.
I have to say, while the product wasn’t a complete failure, I don’t think it lived up to its high expectations. The purpose of the WEN Cleansing Conditioner is to wash your hair without the use of harsh chemicals and sulfates. I loved this idea because I hate that I have to wash my hair every single day because it gets so oily. I’ve been wanting to try a more gentle product. Sadly though this just wasn’t it.
One major negative for me is the price. Depending on where you buy it, you can expect to pay around $30 for a bottle. With that said, according to the directions, I should be using between 20-30 pumps to clean long/thick hair. I’m no haircare expert, but that seems a little ridiculous. If I used that much shampoo, I’d run out of it in a week. And at $30 a bottle, that’s way more than I’d ever want to spend on shampoo.
After using it to cleanse my hair, I found that half-way through the day, it was a greasy mess. I know the sulfates and other chemicals are harsh, but I guess with my hair being so oily, it’s necessary. For someone with really dry hair, this might do the trick.
I ended up sticking with my regular shampoo and using the WEN as a conditioner only. It worked well and I did notice a difference between the softness and look of my hair. And I only used a couple of pumps so it lasted a while.
So the verdict – as a shampoo, WEN didn’t impress me, but as a conditioner I thought it worked well. Would I spend $30 on it again though? That I’m not so sure.
Have you tried the WEN products? I’d love to hear what you thought about it!
