Babymoon Recap {Part 1}

Well, we took our big vacation (what we affectionately called our ‘babymoon’) in May and I’m just now getting to post pictures! Whoops! Either way, over the three day weekend I finally had a chance to upload them all, organize them and put them all in once place. I will warn you, most of the pictures from this part of our trip were taken with my iPhone. We did so much walking around and I didn’t want to haul our big DSLR camera with us the whole time.

We started out our babymoon with a flight to Las Vegas! I know what you’re thinking…how can you have fun in Las Vegas while pregnant? Well, I’m proof that you can have a blast! We were there for three days (the perfect amount of time) and we truly enjoyed every minute of it. Yes, Vegas is a great place to party and go out, but it’s also a place for pampering, shopping and eating the best food which is exactly what we did.

We arrived on Sunday afternoon around 2 in the afternoon and took a taxi straight to our hotel!

We stayed at Caesar’s Palace which I would highly recommend. It’s located right in the middle of the strip so we had easy walking access to everything and the hotel was beautiful. Our room was pretty standard – perfectly nice and clean, but nothing spectacular.

After we arrived and got checked-in, we explored the hotel and grabbed a quick bite to eat at one of the nearby restaurants. And of course, we couldn’t pass up our first chance to gamble in the casino!

That night, we took it easy and walked around the strip to take in all the scenery. The Bellagio was right next door to our hotel so we had to catch their famous fountain show.

Half the fun in walking the Strip is going into all the hotels. They each are so distinct and unique! One of my favorites was the Cosmopolitan. (Do you see all those diamond-like chandeliers in the background?!)

After a full day of travel across the country, we called it an early night so that we could be ready to enjoy our first full day in Vegas on Monday.

Of course, with the time change (Vegas is three hours behind for us) we were up and wide awake by 5:30 a.m. the next morning. Let me tell you, Vegas is quite peaceful that time of day! It was pretty hilarious seeing everyone doing their “walk of shame” home while we were just getting our day started!

We headed next door to the Bellagio to have breakfast at Jean Philippe’s Patisserie.

You know it’s a good sign when you’re greeted by a ginormous chocolate fountain. I just knew this place would be delicious!

We indulged in coffee, quiche and pastries with a lovely view of the Bellagio’s pool.

After that, we headed back to Caesar’s so that the two of us could indulge in the hotel’s spa. This was one of the main reasons I booked us at this hotel. I knew that I wanted to have one day of pampering and Qua – the Spa at Caesar’s was supposed to be one of the best places to do it! I signed up for a pre-natal massage and let me tell you, it was beyond heavenly. After that, I enjoyed the facilities at the spa including their amazing “Roman Baths.” The hubby didn’t get a treatment, but we paid for him to have a ‘day pass’ so he could enjoy the baths, saunas and other facilities which he absolutely loved! The two of us spent all morning lounging and relaxing and it was the perfect way to start our trip.

I wasn’t able to take any pictures inside the spa, but I did pull a few from the hotel’s website…

It was honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole trip!

After being pampered at the spa all morning, we headed straight to the pool to enjoy some sunshine. And just like the spa, the Caesar’s pool definitely did not disappoint.

We enjoyed a casual lunch by the pool and spent a couple hours soaking in the sun before heading back to our room to get ready for the afternoon.

We had heard great things about the High Roller at the Linq so we knew we wanted to try it! It’s a huge observation ferris wheel offering up stunning views of the Vegas Strip.

It towers above all the hotels so you truly get the most amazing 360 degree views of the city. We had to stop and get the hubby a little cocktail before getting on (can you tell he’s afraid of heights?)

We both really enjoyed it! I would definitely do it again – maybe even at nighttime to take in those views, too!

That night, we had a dinner reservation at Gordon Ramsay Steak located in the Paris hotel. The two of us are big Gordon Ramsay fans and enjoy watching Hell’s Kitchen and MasterChef. We knew that we couldn’t miss the opportunity to eat at one of his famous restaurants. (Side note – we also ate at his Pub & Grill while in Vegas and while it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t good either. I don’t think either of us would go back).

Once inside the restaurant I didn’t take any pictures because we wanted to concentrate on each other and enjoy our meals. It was the best meal of our entire trip (by far!) and definitely lived up to the hype. We both agreed we had the best steaks we’d ever had while there. (I had mine well-done because of my pregnancy and it was still juicy, tender and delicious!).

We enjoyed the Maine shrimp appetizer and both had the filets for our entree along with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Yum! We were too full for dessert so we’ll have to indulge in that next time!

After dinner, we walked around the casinos and the hubby did a little gambling to cap off the evening.

The next day, we were up an at ’em super early again (thanks time change!) so we grabbed some coffee and breakfast and headed down to the pool for a couple hours.

We spent the afternoon walking around all the fancy shops (Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Prada – swoon!!) before heading to Mandalay Bay to visit their aquarium.

Once again, we were quite impressed! The aquarium there was really nice and we loved all the different exhibits.

Since we were down on the other end of the strip, we headed to the NY NY hotel because it was Randy’s favorite back when he visited a few years ago.

We had dinner at little Chinese restaurant at the hotel and spent some time gambling. The hubby is convinced that he has the best luck at this hotel. πŸ™‚

We ended up doing pretty well and even winning some money playing craps. I guess he was right!

As we were walking around we saw signs for the HUGE four-story M&M store so we couldn’t resist a stop before we headed back to our hotel for the night.

After three really busy days in Vegas, we were ready to head to the second part of our trip. We checked out of our roomΒ and ordered a delicious breakfast at the hotel before picking up our rental car.

On our way out of town, we stopped by the Hoover Dam for some photos. We went back and forth as to whether to do the full tour or not, but after hearing some feedback from friends who had done it, we decided against it. Personally, we didn’t feel like we were missing out on much. We enjoyed the views and then went on our way.

Wow! Your babymoon in Vegas looks amazing. I’m definitely jealous of all the delicious food you got to eat while you were there–Gordon Ramsey Steak and Jean Philippe’s patisserie are on my to-do list. I love the photo of the chocolate fountain at the Bellagio!
